1 января умер полковник Виктор Имантович Алкснис (Viktors Alksnis) — подлинный герой Латвии и всей России.
Внук советского военачальника Якова Алксниса, он всегда последовательно отстаивал позицию по сохранению союзных отношений между Латвией и Россией. В 1990-м году он требовал от Горбачёва навести порядок в стране, в августе 1991-го поддержал ГКЧП, участвовал в событиях Чёрного октября 1993 года. После выступления в Крыму был объявлен персоной нон-грата на Украине и в Латвии.
Виктор Алкснис — настоящий латыш. Почтим же его память.

He floated the idea of restricting the use of Telegram in Ukraine and Russia, a suggestion that was met with fierce opposition from users. Shortly after, Durov backed off the idea.
