Международная группа ученых FlyWire Consortium впервые в истории составила подробную трехмерную модель мозга мухи, показав 50 миллионов связей у примерно 130 тысяч нейронов. Это самое глубокое и подробное исследование такого сложного мозга взрослого животного из всех когда-либо проведенных.
Профессор лаборатории молекулярной биологии Совета по медицинским исследованиям Кембриджского университета Грегори Джеффрис объяснил, что проведенное исследование поможет объяснить «механизма мышления» живого существа. Сейчас у ученых нет ответа на вопрос, как именно сложная нейронная структура в голове каждого человека позволяет взаимодействовать с другими людьми и окружающим миром. «Как проходит через эту систему нервный сигнал, позволяя мне — узнавать ваше лицо, а вам — слышать мой голос, и вновь превращать услышанное в электрические сигналы?»
