Цвета осетинского флага означают: Белый (мон) — воплощает идеи справедливости, чистоты и священной славы. Красный (æхсар)— символизирует сакральное понятие доблести и отваги. Желтый (фарн) — является цветовым образом мира, добра, счастья и благополучия, исходящих от неба и солнца.
