It turns out that Mikhail Arkhipov, one of our long-time members, has a remarkable channel about Karelia, including his home town, Kostamus. Privately, Mikhail shared his resentment over a lack of Russian-language literature about the architecture of this young town, which was built as a collaborative effort of the USSR and Finland, 30 km away from the Finnish border.
“But can’t we change that?” was our immediate response and thus starts a series of posts about this town-size gem of Soviet and Finnish modernism…
