В 12:12 Министерство обороны Японии объявило, что объект, предположительно баллистическая ракета, запущенная с территории Северной Кореи, предположительно, уже упал. До падения в море она пролетела около 1100 км.
Предположительно, была запущена новая твердотопливная баллистическая ракета средней дальности Hwasong-16B, оснащенная гиперзвуковым планирующим боевым блоком.
