Пассажирами первого вагона, пострадавшего в крушении поезда, была Мурманская хоккейная команда «Арктика».
Ребята не растерялись и сразу же начали помогать всем пострадавшим: выносили людей в одеялах и на сломанных сидушках, искали под завалами, перетаскивали раненых в уцелевшие теплые вагоны.
