Ним виявився 30-річний Дмитро Масловський із позивним «Кобра» — боєць 79-ї окремої десантно-штурмової бригади ЗСУ. Про це повідомив бойовий медик бригади «Віцик». За його словами, саме Масловський — на відомому 8-хвилинному відео страшного бою (17 листопада 2024 року), яке днями зʼявилося в мережі.
У ході бою якут вихопив ніж із рук українця та завдав ним декілька ударів Масловському. Стікаючи кровʼю, боєць ЗСУ подякував опоненту за бій та попросив дати йому спокійно померти. Після цього якут вистрілив в українського захисника.
Відомо, що загиблий був родом із Любашівської громади Одеської області.
