Фанни Гиршевна Фельдман взяла себе псевдоним в честь Любови Раневской, героини пьесы А.П. Чехова "Вишневый сад". С середины 1930-х играла в московских театрах, среди которых Центральный театр Красной Армии и театр им. Моссовета. В 1934 году дебютировала в кино в фильме Михаила Ромма "Пышка". Запомнилась зрителям благодаря колким, метким высказываниям и ярким ролям в картинах: "Подкидыш", "Мечта", "Свадьба", "Весна", "Золушка" и многих других. Также Раневская озвучивала мультфильмы "Сказка о царе Салтане", "Хочу бодаться!" и "Карлсон вернулся". Вечная Память.
