С октября 2023 года Витушкин находился под стражей по обвинению по ч.2 и ч.4 ст.354.1 УК за публикацию материалов о «зимней войне» 1939-1940 годов. Расследование уголовного дела продолжается в СК.

Multiple pro-Kremlin media figures circulated the post's false claims, including prominent Russian journalist Vladimir Soloviev and the state-controlled Russian outlet RT, according to the DFR Lab's report. He adds: "Telegram has become my primary news source."
