Известный историк пришел в этот вуз еще во времена ректора Анатолия Лиферова. Последний, как нам рассказывали их тогдашние коллеги, заполучив сотрудника такого уровня, «пылинки с него сдувал».
Прошло 23 года. Ниже письмо Козлякова, написанное примерно за месяц до увольнения из РГУ.

Обращаюсь к вам c просьбой рассмотреть вопрос о ликвидации научно-образовательного центра «Историограф» на предстоящем заседании Совета 28 апреля 2023 г.
Как известно, с февраля в университете идет целенаправленное уничтожение большинства действовавших лабораторий и научных центров, вне зависимости от их эффективности и результатов работы.
