Почему Певческая? Раньше Лицейский переулок, на котором башня находится, назывался Певческим в честь живших здесь придворных певчих.
Башня была не только водонапорной, а ещё и выполняла функции электрической станции. Именно благодаря ей Царское Село стало полностью освещено уличным электричеством в 1887 году.
В начале 2000-х здание было полузаброшено (фото 2). В 2009-м началась реставрация. Сейчас здесь располагаются: ресторан, отель и смотровая площадка. В номера отеля можно заглянуть, когда поднимаешься на лифте🤭(сняла видео для наглядности). А на смотровой есть столики. Можно взять кофе в баре и любоваться красотами Пушкина.
