Ремонт этой дороги стал возможен благодаря дополнительному федеральному финансированию в 8 млрд. рублей, которые были выделены при поддержке Вячеслава Володина.
На дорогу «Балаково-Ершов» планируется направить 1 млрд. рублей. Будет проведен ремонт 7 участков общей протяженностью около 50 км. По факту некоторые участки предстоит построить заново.
Эта трасса является одной из самых аварийных в Саратовской области, на ее состояние поступало много жалоб от жителей. Трасса соединяет два крупных района Заволжья, на ней расположены более 10 сел, а также Чапаевский курорт.
