✨ 13 февраля в Германии стартовал 75 Берлинский кинофестиваль. В Berlinale Palast прошла церемония открытия, на которой присутствовала новый директор фестиваля Триша Таттл и председатель жюри Тодд Хейнс. На сцену также поднялись члены жюри основного конкурса — Набиль Аюш, Бина Дайгелер, Фань Бинбин, Родриго Морено, Эми Николсон и Мария Шрадер. Ведущей вечера выступила Дезире Носбуш.

🙌 Самым торжественным событием первого дня киносмотра стало вручение актрисе Тильде Суинтон Почетного Золотого медведя за жизненные достижения. Награду ей передал режиссер Эдвард Бергер.

🔸 Открыла Берлинале драма «Свет» Тома Тыквера. По красной ковровой дорожке прошелся сам режиссер и актерский состав картины, включая Ларса Айдингера и Николетт Кребиц.

At the start of 2018, the company attempted to launch an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) which would enable it to enable payments (and earn the cash that comes from doing so). The initial signals were promising, especially given Telegram’s user base is already fairly crypto-savvy. It raised an initial tranche of cash – worth more than a billion dollars – to help develop the coin before opening sales to the public. Unfortunately, third-party sales of coins bought in those initial fundraising rounds raised the ire of the SEC, which brought the hammer down on the whole operation. In 2020, officials ordered Telegram to pay a fine of $18.5 million and hand back much of the cash that it had raised. DFR Lab sent the image through Microsoft Azure's Face Verification program and found that it was "highly unlikely" that the person in the second photo was the same as the first woman. The fact-checker Logically AI also found the claim to be false. The woman, Olena Kurilo, was also captured in a video after the airstrike and shown to have the injuries. Perpetrators of these scams will create a public group on Telegram to promote these investment packages that are usually accompanied by fake testimonies and sometimes advertised as being Shariah-compliant. Interested investors will be asked to directly message the representatives to begin investing in the various investment packages offered. One thing that Telegram now offers to all users is the ability to “disappear” messages or set remote deletion deadlines. That enables users to have much more control over how long people can access what you’re sending them. Given that Russian law enforcement officials are reportedly (via Insider) stopping people in the street and demanding to read their text messages, this could be vital to protect individuals from reprisals. Some people used the platform to organize ahead of the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2021, and last month Senator Mark Warner sent a letter to Durov urging him to curb Russian information operations on Telegram.
