РЖД по итогам 2024 года приобретет 20 тепловозов и электровозов для Свердловской железной дороги производства Брянского машиностроительного завода (из группы «Трансмашхолдинг») и «Уральских локомотивов» (холдинг «Синара - Транспортные машины»). Свердловская железная дорога уже получила 15 магистральных электровозов 3ЭС6 «Уральских локомотивов». Они будут вести грузовые поезда весом более 7 тысяч тонн по Транссибу, в том числе в предгорьях Урала. До конца года парк пополнят также магистральные тепловозы 2ТЭ25КМ Брянского машиностроительного завода. Они будут использоваться для вывоза нефтехимических грузов с севера Уральского федерального округа, на направлении Коротчаево - Сургут - Тобольск - Войновка.
