В SilkwayTransit отмечают, что ТЭМ9 был выбран к покупке из-за тяговых характеристик и быстрой динамики выхода на полную мощность. «ТЭМ9 особенно эффективен в Казахстане с его непростым ландшафтом», - говорит перевозчик. Согласно сайту «дочки» SilkwayTransit – компании «ТТТ-Сервис», ранее ей СТМ поставила 4 маневровых тепловоза ТЭМ14 и 11 магистральных электровозов 2ЭС7.
SilkwayTransit также сообщает, что на текущий момент инвестировала в покупку локомотивов более $100 млн. С учетом новых ТЭМ9 ее парк локомотивов должен достигнуть 66 машин с дизельной и электрической тягой.
В феврале СТМ также передавала в Казахстан путевую технику – электробалластер ЭЛБ-4С для компании «Темиржол жондеу».
