Чекалов, также известный под позывным «Ровер», был одним из ключевых людей в компании. Даже короткий порядковый номер в закрытой связи у него был следующим после самого Пригожина.
Именно на нем лежала задача координации военных и частных бортов для снабжения и ротации сотрудников ЧВК на дальних рубежах, а после известных событий — проработка новых логистических маршрутов. В целом, грамотно выстроенная тыловая инфраструктура компании, во многом ставшая заслугой Ровера, позволяла руководству ЧВК оперативно перебрасывать тысячи человек из одной страны Африки в другую для решения срочных боевых задач.
