دوروتی شی، سفیر ایالات متحده در سازمان ملل، امروز، سه‌شنبه ۲۵ فوریه ۲۰۲۵ میلادی، در نشست بررسی وضعیت خاورمیانه در شورای امنیت سازمان ملل گفت: «با نگاهی وسیع‌تر به منطقه، باید بپذیریم که خاورمیانه همچنان از نفوذ شوم جمهوری اسلامی رنج می‌برد که به آشوب‌ها دامن می‌زند. پشت هر گروه تروریستی مثل حماس، هر عمل خشونت‌بار، هر فعالیت بی‌ثبات‌کننده، و هر چیزی که صلح و ثبات میلیون‌ها نفر ساکن این منطقه را تهدید می‌کند، جمهوری اسلامی قرار دارد. ایالات متحده اجازه نمی‌دهد جمهوری اسلامی به سلاح هسته‌ای دست یابد یا آن را بسازد و خود را در برابر فشارهای حداکثری مصون سازد.»

He did, however, walk back this plan when it became clear that they had also become a vital communications tool for Ukrainian officials and citizens to help coordinate their resistance and evacuations.
