На пост главы государства претендуют пять кандидатов — Бадра Гунба, Адгур Ардзинба, Роберт Аршба, Олег Барциц и Адгур Хурхумал. Победителем станет тот, кто наберет 50% и еще один голос от общего количества проголосовавших.
В списки для голосования внесены 134 500 избирателей, чтобы выборы признали состоявшимися, должно проголосовать не меньше половины из них. В стране открыто 152 участка, еще два работают за рубежом — в Москве и в Черкесске.
Следить за порядком в день выборов будут более 900 сотрудников милиции. В Абхазию приехали более 100 международных наблюдателей из 33 стран, однако после скандала Россия не стала направлять своих наблюдателей.

Telegram has acted to remove public channels affiliated with terrorism, but Pavel Durov reiterated that he had no business snooping on private conversations. What distinguishes the app from competitors is its use of what's known as channels: Public or private feeds of photos and videos that can be set up by one person or an organization. The channels have become popular with on-the-ground journalists, aid workers and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who broadcasts on a Telegram channel. The channels can be followed by an unlimited number of people. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks, there is no advertising on Telegram and the flow of information is not driven by an algorithm. It is unclear who runs the account, although Russia's official Ministry of Foreign Affairs Twitter account promoted the Telegram channel on Saturday and claimed it was operated by "a group of experts & journalists." Andrey, a Russian entrepreneur living in Brazil who, fearing retaliation, asked that NPR not use his last name, said Telegram has become one of the few places Russians can access independent news about the war.
