Высоту накрыли артиллерийским огнём, а боевики трусливо бежали из Аргунского ущелья.
Позже экспертиза установила, что пять десантников, не желая сдаваться в плен, подорвали себя ручными гранатами вместе с боевиками.
Тогда ваххабиты потеряли около 500 двухсотыми. Из 90 российских бойцов погибли 84. Они были посмертно награждены званиями Героя России или Орденом мужества.
Сегодня венки в память о псковских десантниках возложили к мемориалу Защитникам Отечества в Пскове, а в храме Александра Невского отслужили молебен.
