Буддизм на этой земле существовал очередь долго. После разгрома восстания Амурсаны пришëл в упадок, но в конце 19-го века храмы стали восстанавливаться, причëм, похоже благодаря целенаправленной политике империи Цин.
И по сей день целый мирок буддийской культуры сохраняется близ самой китайско-казахстанской границы.
