- معاناة الإنسان الدائمة وخوفه وتوتره المستمر، وعدم قدرته على التخلّص من معاناته. - إظهاره لعيب سلوكيٍّ أو انفعاليٍّ بشكلٍ مبالغٍ فيه يُعطل أداءه أو يؤذي الآخرين حوله كالعنف. - انغماسه في أنشطةٍ قد تُضرّ به أو بمن حوله كالإدمان. - إظهار اضطراباتٍ أو انحرافاتٍ سلوكيةٍ تستدعي من المجتمع أو الأفراد المحيطين تعريض فاعلها للعقاب.
