با کمال تأسف و تأثر، درگذشت استاد بزرگوار و چهره ماندگار ریاضیات ایران، شادروان دکتر سید عبادالله محمودیان، قلب جامعه علمی کشور را در اندوه و سوگ فرو برد.
دکتر محمودیان، انسانی فرزانه و آموزگاری خردمند، سال‌ها از عمر گران‌مایه خویش را در راستای ارتقای علم و تربیت نسلی فرهیخته سپری کرد. نبوغ و تلاش خستگی‌ناپذیر ایشان، نه تنها افق‌های دانش ریاضی را گسترش داد، بلکه الگوی منحصر به فردی از تعهد و انسانیت را برای شاگردان و همکاران به یادگار گذاشت.
با قلبی اندوهگین، این مصیبت بزرگ را به خانواده محترم ایشان، شاگردان ارجمند، و جامعه علمی کشور تسلیت عرض نموده و از درگاه خداوند متعال برای آن فقید سعید آرامش ابدی و برای بازماندگان شکیبایی و تسلا مسئلت می‌نمایم.
