Какой-то человек ко Стряпчему бежит: «Мне триста, — говорит, — рублей принадлежит». Что делать надобно тяжбою, как он чает? А Стряпчий отвечает: «Совет мой тот: Поди и отнеси дьяку рублей пятьсот».
Стряпчий в те лихие времена – это хлопотун по судебным вопросам, типа современного адвоката, а дьяк – представитель судебной власти от Боярской думы. Переведя диалог на наш язык, мы увидим предложение защитника истцу сходить и занести судье взятку превышающую сумму исковых требований.
