Чуть ранее расписали, как соратники Рамзана Кадырова "развивают" металлургический комбинат имени Ильича в Мариуполе, который они захватили в 2022 году (под предлогом того, что чеченские подразделения сыграли важную роль в штурме "Азовстали"). Теперь Wall Street Journal подтверждает - ни о каком развитии речи не идет, есть лишь видимость работы комбината, а по факту происходит разграбление актива.
Издание со ссылкой на менеджеров завода и на имеющиеся документы пишет, что кадыровцы демонтируют и распродают оборудование с комбината. Также на экспорт ушли все запасы стали со складов предприятия. На территории комбината работает пару цехов и даже озвучивались планы, что там в дальнейшем будет открыта новая производственная линия. Но это все выглядит лишь как пиар-кампания для получения инвестиций (свои кадыровцы вкладывать не хотят). Местные жители рассказывают, что никаких признаков того, что комбинат когда-нибудь вернется к прежним объемам выработки нет.

The channel appears to be part of the broader information war that has developed following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Kremlin has paid Russian TikTok influencers to push propaganda, according to a Vice News investigation, while ProPublica found that fake Russian fact check videos had been viewed over a million times on Telegram. What distinguishes the app from competitors is its use of what's known as channels: Public or private feeds of photos and videos that can be set up by one person or an organization. The channels have become popular with on-the-ground journalists, aid workers and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who broadcasts on a Telegram channel. The channels can be followed by an unlimited number of people. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks, there is no advertising on Telegram and the flow of information is not driven by an algorithm. One thing that Telegram now offers to all users is the ability to “disappear” messages or set remote deletion deadlines. That enables users to have much more control over how long people can access what you’re sending them. Given that Russian law enforcement officials are reportedly (via Insider) stopping people in the street and demanding to read their text messages, this could be vital to protect individuals from reprisals. Right now the digital security needs of Russians and Ukrainians are very different, and they lead to very different caveats about how to mitigate the risks associated with using Telegram. For Ukrainians in Ukraine, whose physical safety is at risk because they are in a war zone, digital security is probably not their highest priority. They may value access to news and communication with their loved ones over making sure that all of their communications are encrypted in such a manner that they are indecipherable to Telegram, its employees, or governments with court orders. That hurt tech stocks. For the past few weeks, the 10-year yield has traded between 1.72% and 2%, as traders moved into the bond for safety when Russia headlines were ugly—and out of it when headlines improved. Now, the yield is touching its pandemic-era high. If the yield breaks above that level, that could signal that it’s on a sustainable path higher. Higher long-dated bond yields make future profits less valuable—and many tech companies are valued on the basis of profits forecast for many years in the future.
