По версии следствия, мастер службы подземных газопроводов компании «Читаоблгаз» отдал распоряжение подать пропан-бутановую газовую смесь из наружного газопровода в дом, не убедившись в исправности и герметичности газового оборудования внутри указанного дома.
«В результате <...> в одной из квартир жилого дома произошла утечка газа, из-за чего оказались разрушенными 5 квартир жилого дома. Малолетнему мальчику причинен тяжкий вред здоровью, собственникам жилья нанесен имущественный вред», – сообщили в следственном управлении.
Всего потерпевшими признали более 25 человек.
Взрыв газа произошёл в посёлке Антипиха, который является частью города Читы. В результате взрыва частично обрушились перекрытия между 4 и 5 этажами, а также крыша. Из-под завалов были спасены 12 человек, жертв удалось избежать.
