چند لایه بودن مفهوم شهر در دورۀ ساسانی (مقاله مستخرج از رساله دکتری) امید غیاثی روزبه زرینکوب ————————————— در دوره ساساني شهرهاي بسياري ساخته و يا نوسازي شد و مورخان سده هاي نخستين اسلامي شهرسازي را از ويژگي هاي بنيادين شاهان ساساني برشمرده اند. از آغاز دوره ساساني و با روي كار آمدن شاهاني مانند اردشير بابكان و شاپور يكم روند شهرسازي آغاز شد و تا پايان دوره ساساني و پيش از تلاطم هاي سياسي ناشي از قتل خسرو پرويز مي توان اين روند را دنبال كرد. دربارة شهرهاي ساساني پژوهش هايي انجام گرفته است، اما بيشتر پژوهش ها ، در برقراري نسبت ميان امر اجتماعي ناشي از وجود عيني شهرها در بستر تاريخ دوره ساساني از يكسو، و جهان مفهومي مردم ايران در دوره ساساني درباره شهرنشيني از سوي ديگر، به عنوان مسئله تحقيق، توفيق چنداني نيافته اند. اين پژوهش سعي بر آن دارد تا با تكيه بر روش تاريخ مفهومي، نسبت ميان بستر اجتماعي در تاريخ دوره ساساني و درك ايرانيان از شهر به عنوان سكونتگاهي متمايز را به مسئله بدل كرده و نشان دهد كه چگونه چندين لايه معنايي در پايان دوره ساساني در اين مفهوم انباشته شده بود.
