На самом деле, ничего необычного, волоконно-оптические гироскопы (ВОГи) союз научился делать хорошо и на рынке они востребованы.
Вот эпоху MEMS мы, в значительной степени, пролюбили...

Стоит сей ВОГ по каналу курса, что понятно - курс всегда сложнее всего корректировать. Магнитный курс очень нестабилен, а стабильного вектора g, как у каналов крена и тангажа, на который можно было бы опереться, по курсу нет.
Вот и стоит ВОГ, в дополнение к трёхосевой БСО на MEMSах.
