Контроль над авиабазой Маатен аль-Сарра в Ливии российской армии передал главнокомандующий Ливийской национальной армией (ЛНА) Халифа Хафтар.
База находится у границы Чада и Судана. Таким образом, после восстановления объекта российскими войсками: ремонт взлетно-посадочных полос и складов, на нем создадут логистический центр для операций по всему Сахелю.
