Наиболее многочисленны заимствования из балтийских (самые древние), германских (более свежие) и славянских (самые свежие заимствования) языков. Но есть, судя по всему, и более экзотичные заимствования.
Вот, например, слово ‘imma’ – ‘крёстная’. Вполне себе карельское по звучанию слово. Правда, обозначающее относительно новое в масштабах истории языка понятие.
Примечательно, что это общеупотребительное (по крайней мере, в толмачёвском ареале) тверское карельское слово я не обнаружил ни в каком другом карельском диалекте или наречии, и ни в каком-либо другом родственном карельскому языке. Так карельское ли оно?...🤔
