Судно построено на Окской судоверфи по заказу Морспасслужбы.

Суда проекта имеют широкий круг применения: от патрулирования и буксировки до оказания помощи при тушении пожаров и доставки средств ликвидации разливов нефтепродуктов.

Судно входит в серию пяти арктических буксиров-спасателей, которые строятся в рамках плана развития инфраструктуры Севморпути на период до 2035 года и федерального проекта «Северный морской путь» нацпроекта «Модернизация транспортной инфраструктуры».
