"Брежнев в «Городке» был анекдотичный, здесь я играю уже реального исторического персонажа. У меня есть некоторое сходство с Брежневым, поэтому грима на мне в этом сериале нет, есть наклеенные брови и парик, больше ничего. Я современник этих событий, в 1980-м году мне было 23 года и я уже работал в театре. Я пробовался на роль Брежнева в том знаменитом сериале, где его сыграл Сергей Шакуров, и я счастлив, что его утвердили. Я тогда не был готов к этой роли, а он сыграл ее просто образцово-показательно. При этом я не могу ориентироваться на то, что прекрасно сыграно, иначе я начну этому подражать. Для меня существовал Брежнев и очень много хроники того времени, которую я отсмотрел, удивительной хроники, надо сказать", - поделился он.
