При этом с начала этого года Турция, похоже, оставила попытки вступить в ЕС, членом в который является с 1999 года. Так, в начале лета глава МИД страны заявил, что государство хотело бы присоединиться к БРИКС. Сейчас в ШОС входит 10 государств, еще два имеют статус наблюдателя.
