Снова и снова жители Шахтёрска присылают нам видео угольной пыли, которую гонит из порта. С каждым годом угля на складах здесь всё больше. И пыли от него — тоже. Ещё уголь периодически горит, и весь этот угольный гриб, как правило, гонит на жилые дома поблизости. И на Шахтёрск.

«Каждый день наблюдаю такую печальную картину: пыль столбом не только над портом. Как ветер северо-западный, так вся пыль летит в нашу сторону. Шахтёрск небольшой, эта чернота до всех долетает. Люди жалуются, что на подоконниках каждый день слой чёрной пыли. Кроме жилых домов тут и 2-я школа, и 14-й детсад. Сейчас в этом же районе строится начальная школа. Шахтёрск наигрязнейший! Что с нами дальше будет?!»

Again, in contrast to Facebook, Google and Twitter, Telegram's founder Pavel Durov runs his company in relative secrecy from Dubai. Telegram boasts 500 million users, who share information individually and in groups in relative security. But Telegram's use as a one-way broadcast channel — which followers can join but not reply to — means content from inauthentic accounts can easily reach large, captive and eager audiences. Telegram has become more interventionist over time, and has steadily increased its efforts to shut down these accounts. But this has also meant that the company has also engaged with lawmakers more generally, although it maintains that it doesn’t do so willingly. For instance, in September 2021, Telegram reportedly blocked a chat bot in support of (Putin critic) Alexei Navalny during Russia’s most recent parliamentary elections. Pavel Durov was quoted at the time saying that the company was obliged to follow a “legitimate” law of the land. He added that as Apple and Google both follow the law, to violate it would give both platforms a reason to boot the messenger from its stores. During the operations, Sebi officials seized various records and documents, including 34 mobile phones, six laptops, four desktops, four tablets, two hard drive disks and one pen drive from the custody of these persons. You may recall that, back when Facebook started changing WhatsApp’s terms of service, a number of news outlets reported on, and even recommended, switching to Telegram. Pavel Durov even said that users should delete WhatsApp “unless you are cool with all of your photos and messages becoming public one day.” But Telegram can’t be described as a more-secure version of WhatsApp.
