Ярнема одно из старейших поселений нижнего течения Онеги. Большая деревня в которой десятки северных крестьянских домов-дворов, нетронутых сайдингом и стеклопакетами живописно расположились на берегу реки. Причудливые финно-угорские топонимы Поонежья и нетронутая, как будто застывшая северная природа добавляют ощущение незыблемости всего вокруг.

Прочитал, что недалеко от деревни, в гражданскую войну англичане потеряли баржу с ромом для белых офицеров. Местные мужики многие годы ныряли в реку (что было крайне опасно т.к. место было вязкое) пытаясь выудить ценный груз. Выплывали не все. Ну а к семидесятым годам баржу окончательно затянуло илом.
