در آن زمان وزارت دادگستری آمریکا اعلام کرد شریفی زیندشتی و دو شهروند کانادایی به توطئه در استفاده از امکانات تجاری در آمریکا در ارتکاب یک طرح قتل در مقابل پول متهم شده‌اند.
