En el Foro de Empresarios Chinos de 2023, Lu Qingfen, fundador de HKUST Xunfei, habló sobre los planes de HUAWEI para desarrollar sus propias GPU. Afirmó que estas GPU se especializarán en cálculos neuronales y serán comparables en potencia a la NVIDIA A100. No reveló detalles técnicos, pero dijo que las GPU tendrán una sólida base de hardware y admitirán modelos de lenguaje grandes como GPT-3 y GPT-4. Para lograr esto, HUAWEI está colaborando con otras compañías de IA. También informó que la NVIDIA A100 tiene un rendimiento de alrededor de 19.5 TFLOP (FP32).
Lu Qingfen también anunció su modelo de IA de propósito general que competirá con ChatGPT. El modelo funcionará en chino e inglés y se presentará el 24 de octubre. La comparación con GPT-4 está programada para la primera mitad de 2024.
