Напомним, уголовное дело против Удальцова возбуждено 15 декабря 2023. Его обвиняют в публичном оправдании терроризма ( (ч. 2 ст. 205.2 Уголовного кодекса РФ). Поводом для возбуждения уголовного дела стали посты Удальцова в защиту членов марксистского кружка из Уфы, которых в марте 2022 обвинили в организации террористического сообщества (решения суда по их делу еще нет). Под стражей Сергей Удальцов с 11 января 2024.
В мае 2024 депутаты ГД от КПРФ Николай Коломейцев, Нина Останина, Сергей Левченко, Денис Парфенов и Олег Михайлов поручились перед судом за Удальцова и предложили выпустить его из СИЗО, заменив меру пресечения на менее строгую.
В декабре 2024 бюро Московского горкома КПРФ (первый секретарь Виктор Царихин) выпустило заявление с требованием «прекратить политическое преследование Сергея Удальцова».
Накануне внук лидера партии Леонид Зюгановвыступил в защиту Удальцова: "🤝Сергей Удальцов* – мой друг. Считаю, что он должен быть освобождён".
Известно, что 30 января 2025 в Мосгорсуде будет рассмотрена апелляция Удальцова на меру пресечения.

Telegram has gained a reputation as the “secure” communications app in the post-Soviet states, but whenever you make choices about your digital security, it’s important to start by asking yourself, “What exactly am I securing? And who am I securing it from?” These questions should inform your decisions about whether you are using the right tool or platform for your digital security needs. Telegram is certainly not the most secure messaging app on the market right now. Its security model requires users to place a great deal of trust in Telegram’s ability to protect user data. For some users, this may be good enough for now. For others, it may be wiser to move to a different platform for certain kinds of high-risk communications. Telegram does offer end-to-end encrypted communications through Secret Chats, but this is not the default setting. Standard conversations use the MTProto method, enabling server-client encryption but with them stored on the server for ease-of-access. This makes using Telegram across multiple devices simple, but also means that the regular Telegram chats you’re having with folks are not as secure as you may believe. But Telegram says people want to keep their chat history when they get a new phone, and they like having a data backup that will sync their chats across multiple devices. And that is why they let people choose whether they want their messages to be encrypted or not. When not turned on, though, chats are stored on Telegram's services, which are scattered throughout the world. But it has "disclosed 0 bytes of user data to third parties, including governments," Telegram states on its website. Ukrainian forces have since put up a strong resistance to the Russian troops amid the war that has left hundreds of Ukrainian civilians, including children, dead, according to the United Nations. Ukrainian and international officials have accused Russia of targeting civilian populations with shelling and bombardments. Pavel Durov, a billionaire who embraces an all-black wardrobe and is often compared to the character Neo from "the Matrix," funds Telegram through his personal wealth and debt financing. And despite being one of the world's most popular tech companies, Telegram reportedly has only about 30 employees who defer to Durov for most major decisions about the platform.
