Центральный суд Челябинска 18 октября внял доводам следствия и отправил в СИЗО задержанного ФСБ гендиректора ООО «Челябинскавтотранс» Алексея Алексеенко. Его и депутата городской думы Виталия Паутова считают посредниками в передаче двухмиллионной взятки не названным пока чиновникам мэрии областного центра. В обмен было получено незаконное разрешение на строительство жилой мнооэтажки. Защита Алексеенко апеллировала к тому, что сама постановка вопроса о незаконности разрешения, выданного на строительство дома, где давно живут люди, безосновательна. Но понимания у суда этот тезис не нашел.

Pavel Durov even said that users should delete WhatsApp “unless you are cool with all of your photos and messages becoming public one day.” But Telegram can’t be described as a more-secure version of WhatsApp. On Telegram’s website, it says that Pavel Durov “supports Telegram financially and ideologically while Nikolai (Duvov)’s input is technological.” Currently, the Telegram team is based in Dubai, having moved around from Berlin, London and Singapore after departing Russia. Meanwhile, the company which owns Telegram is registered in the British Virgin Islands. Right now the digital security needs of Russians and Ukrainians are very different, and they lead to very different caveats about how to mitigate the risks associated with using Telegram. For Ukrainians in Ukraine, whose physical safety is at risk because they are in a war zone, digital security is probably not their highest priority. They may value access to news and communication with their loved ones over making sure that all of their communications are encrypted in such a manner that they are indecipherable to Telegram, its employees, or governments with court orders. WhatsApp, a rival messaging platform, introduced some measures to counter disinformation when Covid-19 was first sweeping the world. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 230 points, or 0.7%. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.3% and 2.2%, respectively. All three indexes began the day with gains before selling off.
