На место мэра Кургана ранее претендовали три кандидата - экс-врип мэра города Аргышева, директор Центра соцобслуживания № 1 Антропов и исполнительный секретарь Курганского местного отделения партии «Единая Россия» Жуковский. Врип главы 2 мая стал Антон Науменко, которого не было среди кандидатов на пост главы.
