BREAKING: The Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem Sends Urgent Letter to Netanyahu.
On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Archbishop Nourhan Manougian sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the issue of the Arnona (Municipality Tax).
In the letter, His Beatitude urged Netanyahu to intervene and halt the actions taken by the Municipality of Jerusalem against the Armenian Patriarchate. He also called for the resumption of meetings within the governmental committee established in 2018 by the Prime Minister himself, in an effort to find a resolution to this alarming issue.
The committee was founded in order to find solutions to the Arnona issue through negotiation and cooperation with the Heads of Christian Communities in the Holy Land. This committee remains active and has held several productive meetings, yielding positive outcomes.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) had carried out a similar exercise in 2017 in a matter related to circulation of messages through WhatsApp. In December 2021, Sebi officials had conducted a search and seizure operation at the premises of certain persons carrying out similar manipulative activities through Telegram channels. Perpetrators of these scams will create a public group on Telegram to promote these investment packages that are usually accompanied by fake testimonies and sometimes advertised as being Shariah-compliant. Interested investors will be asked to directly message the representatives to begin investing in the various investment packages offered. As a result, the pandemic saw many newcomers to Telegram, including prominent anti-vaccine activists who used the app's hands-off approach to share false information on shots, a study from the Institute for Strategic Dialogue shows. These entities are reportedly operating nine Telegram channels with more than five million subscribers to whom they were making recommendations on selected listed scrips. Such recommendations induced the investors to deal in the said scrips, thereby creating artificial volume and price rise.
