«پرویز»، یکی از مسن‌ترین شامپانزه‌های جهان و پیرترین شامپانزه ایران، در سن بیش از ۷۰ سالگی بر اثر کهولت سن و عوارض ناشی از آن در باغ‌وحش ارم تهران از دنیا رفت.
علی طاهری، دامپزشک باغ‌وحش ارم، با اعلام این خبر گفت: «علی‌رغم تلاش‌های صورت‌گرفته، پرویز، که یکی از نمادهای باغ‌وحش ارم محسوب می‌شد، در حالی که در تخت خود مشغول استراحت بود، با آرامش از دنیا رفت.»
به گفته او، پرویز طی ۱۰ روز گذشته دچار بی‌حالی و بی‌اشتهایی شده بود و بررسی‌های پزشکی نشان از ضعف نبض، رنگ‌پریدگی مخاط و آریتمی شدید قلبی داشت.
