كتب عبد الله العمري كتابا للإمام مالك ينصحه فيه بالعزلة والتعبد وترك اجتماع الناس وتعليم العلم، فقال له الإمام مالك: «إن الله عز وجل قسم الأعمال كما قسم الأرزاق، فرُبَّ رجلٍ فُتح له في الصلاة ولم يُفتح له في الصوم، وآخر فُتح له في الصدقة ولم يُفتح له في الصيام، وآخر فُتح له في الجهاد ولم يُفتَح له في الصلاة، ونشر العلم وتعليمه من أفضل أعمال البر، وقد رضيت بما فتح الله لي فيه من ذلك، وما أظُن ما أنا فيه بدون ما أنت فيه، وأرجو أن يكون كلانا على خير، ويجب على كل واحد منا أن يرضى بما قُسِم له، والسلام».

Voice and video calls are also completely encrypted. In a message on his Telegram channel recently recounting the episode, Durov wrote: "I lost my company and my home, but would do it again – without hesitation." Groups are also not fully encrypted, end-to-end. This includes private groups. Private groups cannot be seen by other Telegram users, but Telegram itself can see the groups and all of the communications that you have in them. All of the same risks and warnings about channels can be applied to groups.
