В Восточное Средиземноморье направляется крупнейший в мире авианосец с ядерной установкой «Джеральд Форд», заявил глава Пентагона Ллойд Остин.
«Я распорядился укрепить потенциал Минобороны США в регионе. Авианосная ударная группа "Джеральд Форд" перебрасывается туда», – говорится в сообщении военного ведомства.
Помимо флагмана в регион отправятся ракетный крейсер и четыре ракетных эсминца. Также увеличивается количество летных отрядов истребителей F-35, F-15, F-16 и A-10 в ближневосточном регионе.
«США будут оперативно предоставлять Армии обороны Израиля дополнительное оборудование и ресурсы, включая боеприпасы», – добавил министр.
После обострения ситуации в секторе Газа Армия обороны Израиля объявила о начале операции «Железные мечи».
