A glad ending and spectacular new beginings to you on this the 12th Day of Yule!
This night is for all divine friends and Oaths!
And today we think on wisdom!
Leave offerings for your land spirits today to entice them to stay through the cold seasons and to bless your lands! Give offering to the house spirits that your home is filled with cheer, love, abundance and cleanliness!
Focus tonight on what your goals are for the year and give blot to the God or Goddess that makes most sense to exchange the best of what you have to offer, in hopes that they will lend their aid and and blessings in return. If you are not sure which one, ask your Gothi/Gythia for guidance. Raven Folk United has some who are also quite happy to help if you do not have that spiritual guidance local to you yet. We are always happy to have spiritual conversations to help where needed.
12th night is also a time where our people jump the fire! Leaving in the past all that they do not wish to carry into the future. Letting it burn off over the fire! (Please use caution if you choose to do this, we dont want to see pics of ambulance rides because you burned off more than you bargained for..😳😜)
Another tradition is to oath over the boars head. You may see actual boars heads or wooden ones that people lay their hands on to make their oaths for the next year. This tradition has roots in the Boar, Gullinbursti(Golden Bristle) Freyrs golden bristled boar that shone like the light of a thousand suns! At such a time when we celebrate the return of the sun, it easy to see why sow day was a part of Yule. Where the people would get together to slaughter and prepare the boar for the Yule feast. In days of old the Best boar would be brought into the hall where everyone would lay a hand upon it, swearing oaths that would be heard by Freyr! Then they would slaughter the boar in offering and feast!
Another to hear your oaths is Var.(pledge or beloved) She is the Goddess of oaths agreements and contracts. She hears the oaths, even the private ones, between men and women. So if you are looking to give blot before an Oath tonight, this may be your girl.
On the subject of oaths: remember that an oath is reciprocal. That means there is a give and take, an exchange. And if you are oathing amongs your folk know that they become a part of that oath. That they are bound to help you achieve that oath’s completion. And should you fail, you affect the wyrd of all. So do not take an oath lightly. It is why an oath must be discussed before taking it and those who will be present need to make the choice to be there or step out for it.
Think tonight on wisdom as well. Odin says it is best to be middling wise.
Knowing too much may bring sorrow. And not enough may lead to ill choices. But knowing a middling amount, that is the sweet spot. Knowing enough to still learn. To still be in awe of the mysteries of our world and the one beyond the veil. Knowing enough to use what knowledge you have to make good decisions for yourself, your family, your community. That is wisdom in practice..
As we get ready to bid the 12 holy days that reside neither in the last year or in the one about to start. These 12 holy days suspended in the middle, my heart is full. My wishes are clear. And my gratitude for all the blessings I have recieved in this life is overflowing.
So light your 12th candle. Speak your oaths. Share your prosperity in goods or goodwill and love. Embrace your family, your kith and kin one more time in the in between. Then jump over the fire! Leave the past where it may lay, and take on the future!
Hail the Divine Friends!
Hail to those who take on serious Oaths!
And Hail to wisdom this night!
I will see you all next year! Many blessings!❤️

The Lund 1 runestone depicts a bearded Odin mask flanked by two wolves, which appear to be carrying swords and shields.
The inscription reads;
“Þorgísl, son of Ásgeirr Björn's son, raised these stones in memory of both of his brothers Ólafr and Óttarr, good landholders.”
