🇺🇸🚨 A big section of the Santa Cruz pier in California collapsed into the ocean, pulling multiple individuals into the water.
City workers were still present on the pier when the 150-foot segment detached and began floating away following a large swell with waves reaching up to 25 feet.
Two workers were rescued by lifeguards, while one managed to swim to shore. Two of the workers were hospitalized with injuries.
The National Weather Service Bay Area has urged residents to avoid the ocean, warning that waves could reach heights of up to 60 feet. The cause of the collapse is under investigation.

Subsequently, control of the company was reportedly handed to oligarchs Alisher Usmanov and Igor Sechin, both allegedly close associates of Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Just days after Russia invaded Ukraine, Durov wrote that Telegram was "increasingly becoming a source of unverified information," and he worried about the app being used to "incite ethnic hatred." Some people used the platform to organize ahead of the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2021, and last month Senator Mark Warner sent a letter to Durov urging him to curb Russian information operations on Telegram.
