Моя гипотеза в том, что в старые времена языком международного общения был французский, и все языки испытывали его влияние. В том числе и английский. Русский это влияние не сбросил до сих пор, и структурно французский текст всё ещё очень легко переводить на русский. Не приходится полностью перекраивать формулировки. А английский ушёл куда-то далеко-далеко и в итоге стал бесконечно структурно далёк в том числе и от русского. Но когда переводишь архаичную английскую речь, все эти сложности испаряются.
