На второй участок МТК пока нет финансирования, но его планируют провести через студенческий студенческий кампус, в обход Академгородка, с выходом на улицу Высоцкого
Стоимость строительства первого участка кольца – 5,5 миллиарда рублей. На эти деньги можно было 5 раз переложить все трамвайные пути Томска, отремонтировать почти 200 исторических домов или построить 5 новых школ.
