Support our fund-raiser for Angel Nikolaev’s defence in court
Angel Nikolaev is an anti-war activist from Khabarovsk [in the Russian Far East]. He was arrested in the summer of last year for an anti-war action, and his case is now in court. We have only recently learned of Angel’s case, and found a defence lawyer for him. Before this he had only a state-appointed lawyer, with whose work he was dissatisfied.
We are collecting €2400 to pay current legal fees, and for three months of the trial.
By supporting our fund-raisers, you are not breaking any Russian laws. We are not classified as foreign agents, or as an extremist or terrorist organisation — and so far, collecting money to pay legal fees in Russia has not been outlawed.

Pavel Durov, a billionaire who embraces an all-black wardrobe and is often compared to the character Neo from "the Matrix," funds Telegram through his personal wealth and debt financing. And despite being one of the world's most popular tech companies, Telegram reportedly has only about 30 employees who defer to Durov for most major decisions about the platform. "Someone posing as a Ukrainian citizen just joins the chat and starts spreading misinformation, or gathers data, like the location of shelters," Tsekhanovska said, noting how false messages have urged Ukrainians to turn off their phones at a specific time of night, citing cybersafety. But Telegram says people want to keep their chat history when they get a new phone, and they like having a data backup that will sync their chats across multiple devices. And that is why they let people choose whether they want their messages to be encrypted or not. When not turned on, though, chats are stored on Telegram's services, which are scattered throughout the world. But it has "disclosed 0 bytes of user data to third parties, including governments," Telegram states on its website. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message on Tuesday that Ukrainian forces "destroy the invaders wherever we can."
