There is this speech in Steel Ball Run by the President of the United States.
It goes something like: when you sit at a round table, the seats are only apparently democratic. If you are the first to seize a napkin, be it on your left or on your right, you will be the one that decides what napkin all the other get.
I think often about this speech.
I surely thought about it this morning, when there were no places where to park my car, and I was in a hurry, and decided to park it anyway in a place where there *was* room to park and there *was* still room to go around my car in a safe way but decidedly there was *not* a diirect designation.
As i left my car, and took a last glance at it, and saw another person park directly behind me, I indeed thought "yes, seize the napkin"

In 2018, Russia banned Telegram although it reversed the prohibition two years later. Telegram does offer end-to-end encrypted communications through Secret Chats, but this is not the default setting. Standard conversations use the MTProto method, enabling server-client encryption but with them stored on the server for ease-of-access. This makes using Telegram across multiple devices simple, but also means that the regular Telegram chats you’re having with folks are not as secure as you may believe. Asked about its stance on disinformation, Telegram spokesperson Remi Vaughn told AFP: "As noted by our CEO, the sheer volume of information being shared on channels makes it extremely difficult to verify, so it's important that users double-check what they read." The gold standard of encryption, known as end-to-end encryption, where only the sender and person who receives the message are able to see it, is available on Telegram only when the Secret Chat function is enabled. Voice and video calls are also completely encrypted. Overall, extreme levels of fear in the market seems to have morphed into something more resembling concern. For example, the Cboe Volatility Index fell from its 2022 peak of 36, which it hit Monday, to around 30 on Friday, a sign of easing tensions. Meanwhile, while the price of WTI crude oil slipped from Sunday’s multiyear high $130 of barrel to $109 a pop. Markets have been expecting heavy restrictions on Russian oil, some of which the U.S. has already imposed, and that would reduce the global supply and bring about even more burdensome inflation.
