Maybe you thought I asked a question about projects willy nilly?
'course you didn't and I definitely didn't ask just for fun.
Projects are an inherent part of my courses as they are a really good chance to do the following:
1️⃣ Have the students use the target language in a relatively natural way.
2️⃣ Have them practice their research skills which are vital for any person nowadays.
3️⃣ As a follow-up from the previous point, allow your students to practice their critical thinking skills (they need to find relevant sources of information, don't they?).
4️⃣ Let them find out some new information and share their newfound knowledge with others.
A lot of benefits, really. Sounds like a dream come true (well, to me). Why doesn't everybody do them then?
I cannot claim to be the leading expert on projects, but I can share how I organize such work. Shall I?

A Russian Telegram channel with over 700,000 followers is spreading disinformation about Russia's invasion of Ukraine under the guise of providing "objective information" and fact-checking fake news. Its influence extends beyond the platform, with major Russian publications, government officials, and journalists citing the page's posts. What distinguishes the app from competitors is its use of what's known as channels: Public or private feeds of photos and videos that can be set up by one person or an organization. The channels have become popular with on-the-ground journalists, aid workers and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who broadcasts on a Telegram channel. The channels can be followed by an unlimited number of people. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks, there is no advertising on Telegram and the flow of information is not driven by an algorithm. "We as Ukrainians believe that the truth is on our side, whether it's truth that you're proclaiming about the war and everything else, why would you want to hide it?," he said. He floated the idea of restricting the use of Telegram in Ukraine and Russia, a suggestion that was met with fierce opposition from users. Shortly after, Durov backed off the idea.
